Evaluation of knowledge, attitude and practice of dental auxiliaries of Kerala towards child abuse and Neglect: A cross-sectional study

International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences · 2025 · Vol. 11(1) · pp. 168–174

Abstract

Child abuse and neglect (CAN) is a significant global issue, yet its recognition and intervention within the dental setting remain underexplored. This study aims to assess the awareness, perceptions, and attitudes of dental auxiliaries toward CAN and their preparedness to address such cases. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 54 dental auxiliaries, examining demographics, awareness levels, and training experiences related to CAN. Findings highlight critical gaps in education and preparedness, emphasizing the need for targeted training programs for dental professionals.
