Importance of information literacy in information society

Abstract

This research paper is written to provide a summary of the research on the importance of the Information Literacy in today’s Information Society. In this research, we explored the various ways in which Information literacy is essential for academic success, personal development, and professional advancement. We also examined the role of libraries in promoting and supporting information literacy. Our research found that information literacy is a crucial skill in today’s Information-rich society, as it enables individuals to access and use relevant and credible sources of information effectively and ethically. Libraries play a vital role in promoting and supporting information literacy and they are essential institutions that provide access to a wide range of information resources and the ability to access, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically is what constitutes information literacy. Overall, this research paper highlights the importance of information literacy in the information society, and the role of libraries in promoting and supporting this essential skill.
