Therapeutic management of silent oestrus in crossbred cows under rural condition of Assam
Abstract
The study was planned to find out efficacy of some supplementation for therapeutic management of silent oestrous in crossbred cows of Assam. Fifty (50) confirmed silent oestrous cows were selected for different therapeutic management. Cows were divided into 5 groups, each group comprising 10 cows. Respective cyclic group of cows were treated with Mineral mixture (Group A), Mineral mixture + Vitamins (Group B), Mineral mixture + Vitamins + Enzymes (Group C), Mineral mixture + Vitamins + Enzymes + Protein (Group D) and no supplementation (Group E), served as control. Treatments were initiated from the day of detected oestrus. Percentages of silent oestrous cows responding to treatment i.e. showed prominent oestrus signs were 0.00, 0.00, 10.00, 30.00 and 0.00 in groups A, B, C, D and E respectively. Interval between initiation of treatment and onset of prominent oestrus was 20 days in one cow in group C and three cows in group D respectively. The conception rate to first insemination was 50.00, 60.00, 60.00, 80.00 and 40.00 percent in groups A, B, C, D and E, respectively.
