Study of habitat of diverse urban avian species of Moradabad city (Uttar Pradesh), India

Abstract

This study investigates the habitat distribution and residential status of bird species in Moradabad city, Uttar Pradesh, India which was conducted over a two-year period (2023-25). The study reveals that 72% of bird species inhabit terrestrial habitats, while 28% are found in aquatic habitats. Analysis of residential status shows that 70% of birds are resident species, followed by foraging visitors and migratory birds (10% each). Notably, this study provides the prior documentation of avifaunal diversity in Moradabad city, highlighting the need for conservation efforts to protect urban bird populations.
