Evaluation of compact cotton genotypes under high density planting system with different nutrient levels
Abstract
A field experiment was carried out during kharif season of the year 2023 at Main Cotton Research Station, Navsari Agricultural University, Surat, to study compact cotton genotypes under high density planting system with different nutrient levels. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design. The experiment consist eighteen treatment combinations with two compact varieties viz., G. Cot.-34 and G. Cot.-42, three levels of plant spacing viz., 60 cm × 20 cm, 60 cm × 30 cm and 90 cm × 15 cm and three levels of inorganic fertilizer viz., 100% RDF, 125% RDF and 150% RDF. The results of the study revealed that cotton variety G. Cot.-34 recorded significantly higher seed cotton yield as well as net returns. Among the different plant spacing, closer spacing 60 cm × 20 cm produce higher seed cotton yield as well as net realization. Regarding different levels of inorganic fertilizers, 150% RDF remarkably improved higher seed cotton yield as well as net returns.
