Synthetic and applied study of 1, 3-diphenyl-2-propen-1-one derivatives via pyrazole intermediates

Journal of Research in Chemistry · 2025 · Vol. 6(1) · pp. 56–60

Abstract

This study explores the synthesis and characterization of a novel series of 1,3-Diphenyl-2-propen-1-one derivatives using a well-structured multi-step synthetic approach. The process begins with a condensation reaction between NH2NH2 derivatives and ethyl 3-oxobutanoate, resulting in the formation of pyrazole intermediates. These intermediates undergo further acyl substitution and ring closure reactions to yield the desired derivatives. The reaction conditions were meticulously optimized to ensure high yields and exceptional purity of the final products. Comprehensive characterization was performed using advanced spectroscopic techniques, including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (¹H-NMR), and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (¹³C-NMR), providing definitive structural confirmation. This research establishes a reliable and efficient method for synthesizing chalcone-based compounds, highlighting their potential applications in various scientific and industrial fields.
