Effect of ethanolic leaf extract from Moringa oleifera and Tinospora cordifolia as dietary supplements on the testicular biometry parameters of Marwari pubertal rams

Abstract

The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the effect of supplementation of M. oleifera and T. cordifolia leaves ethanolic extract on testicular biometry parameters of Marwari pubertal rams. Eighteen pubertal rams (7-8 months old) weighing an average of 25 kg were chosen and split evenly among three experimental groups (C, T1 and T2), each with six rams. The rams of C were fed standard diet composed of Concentrate Feed Mixture (CFM) + Green/Dry Fodder. The rams of T1 and T2 were fed same standard diet and supplemented with M. oliefera leaves @ 160 mg per kg b.wt. and T. cordifolia @ 1 gm per kg b.wt., respectively, for 105days. From the first day of the experiment until 15 days after the feeding trial ended, the testicular biometry was taken fortnightly intervals. The findings showed that testicular biometry (scrotal circumference, testicular breadth, and testicular length) differed considerably between groups, with T1 rams having the highest values, followed by T2 and C. In contrast, testicular volume did not differ significantly between any of the groups. According to the study's findings, adding leaf extract from M. oleifera and T. cordifolia to feed may improve the testicular biometry parameters of Marwari pubertal rams, perhaps accelerating the onset of puberty.
