Abstract

In the backdrop of despicable issues that the mother earth is enduring, the thinkers are making efforts to find out amicable solutions to the perils, affecting human lives and the whole ecosystem. Collective responsibility can bring out global goals and give the future generations a human centric society, for which the global family is thriving for. There is no doubt in the fact that global and national aspirations can be fulfilled through education. Nations are the parts and parcels of the globe. So global aspirations are also aspirations of all nations. Still situation specific requirements compel nations to devise its own policy, plan and programme to fulfil its specific goals. Genuinity of such issues is debatable. The global good cannot be met by just clicking it on a button. Those can be brought out through systemic approach. School has a great role in nurturing ethical values in students. Values should be rigorously practiced from childhood. School is one of the important and prominent places where such practices can be organized. Values can be experimented in laboratory situations. Only academics will not fulfill all the needs of society. Illiterate people have contributed to the society immensely. Curriculum of each country/state is prepared with due deliberation with all the stakeholders. Ccurricular goals are well defined.Teachers have a responsibility to transact the curriculum to meet the needs of society. Pedagogy of teaching completely rests with the teachers. Autonomy of a teacher in this regard is never questioned as long as she adheres to professionalism. In many occasions she also becomes handicapped due to certain constraint. She is in mental stress. Teachers are leaving the job or expressing their reluctance to continue with the job. Students are also showing disruptive behaviour. So much freedom leads to waywardness. In the other sense, imposition of rules and regulations curb the independence of the children. Too much bookish knowledge and monotonous class make them disinterested. Ethical values among the students are declining day by day. If something is not going in the right way, then we have to choose alternatives. In the context of school education if everything is now curricular then why do we do not devise policy to nurture and measure personal social qualities (PSQs) of students.
