Nasal glial heterotopia: Case report

Abstract

Nasal glioma also referred as glial heterotopia or the presence of isolated non-teratomatous glial tissue having an incidence of 1 in 20,000 to 40,000is an uncommon and benign congenital abnormality. Gliomas are benign congenital lesions caused by the failure of neuroglial tissue to regress normally during embryonic development. They are seen in the nasofrontal area and are diagnosed in the postnatal period. They are considered as the differential diagnosis of the nasofrontal midline masses. We discuss the case of a 10-month-old kid treated at our ENT Department.We conclude that each practitioner must be aware of potential neoplasmseven in the youngest patients.
