Condition of heritage sites: A case study of Serampore municipality, WB, India

Abstract

Serampore, a small heritage town in Bengal, was bought by Danish traders in the 17th century for trade and development. They built churches, schools, and cemeteries, preserving remnants of the Danish golden era. Government and non-governmental organizations are promoting the town as a tourist destination. Primary and Secondary data are analysed using quantitative and qualitative method This paper discusses Danish inventions, historical sites, old temples, Ghats, and schools, and suggests short tour programs to preserve the town's heritage and economic benefits.
