Abstract
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (HT) also called as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis is one of the most common forms of autoimmune thyroiditis. The disease has an unknown etiology characterized by destruction of the gland eventually leading to hypothyroidism. Decreased T4 (free) and increased TSH anti-TPO antibody are diagnostic of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Total hormonal replacement therapy is the standard of care for patients with hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Thyroid lymphoma may complicate Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
