Study of characteristics of cases of acute central serous chorioretinopathy by OCT and OCTA

Abstract

Background: Macular serous retinal detachment episodes, which are recognised as a separate clinical illness by fluorescein angiography (FA), are indicative of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). Investigating the outcomes of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in patients with acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) was the main goal of this study. Methods: Thirty eyes from individuals with acute central serous chorioretinopathy participated in this cross-sectional, observational investigation, who presented with complaints within a two-month timeframe and had clear ocular media. Both OCT and OCTA were employed for diagnostic purposes in all cases.Results: There was no correlation found between sub foveal choroidal thickness and central macular thickness, or between subretinal fluid height and vessel area density in the superficial capillary plexus. Similarly, no correlation was observed between visual acuity (expressed in Log minimum angle of resolution) and central macular thickness, subretinal fluid height, and sub foveal choroidal thickness. There was no relation between visual acuity Log MAR and (Pachychoroid and pigmented epithelial detachment (PED)). PED was positive in 10 (33.33%) patients (3 PEDs in 6 patients and 4 PEDs in 4 patients). Turbidity of fluid was turbid in 4 (13.33%) patients and clear in 26 (86.67%) patients. Tenting was positive in 13 (43.33%) patients. The mean of foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area was 0.3±0.09 mm2 and VAD in SCP was 6.2±2.71. 2ry choroidal neovascularization (CNV) was positive in 2 (6.67%) patients. Conclusions: Different characteristics of acute CSC can be determined by measuring different parameters by OCT and OCTA.
