Growth and yield of cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata) as Influenced by applied different varieties and plant spacing

Abstract

A field trial was done in 2021-22 at the Department of Horticulture's Horticulture Research Farm, School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, India. The experimental field was organized in a factorial randomized block design (FRBD) with three replications. With respect to varieties, the analysis found that maximum plant height (37.43 cm), number of leaves (19.44), leaf length (31.60 cm), stem diameter (9.11 cm), and plant spread along the east-west direction (53.32 cm) were all highest in the Golden Acre variety. Leaf width, number of leaves, and yield (kg/plot) were unaffected by various varieties. The maximum head weight (1.82 kg) and yield (13.33 kg/plot) were seen in Golden Acre. The lowest growth and yield characters were recorded in Pusa Hybrid-1. Recorded that various spacing treatments, maximum leaf length (31.08 cm), leaf width (25.78 cm), plant spread (51.98 cm), and head weight (1.69 kg) were achieved with a spacing of 45×45 cm, while maximum yield (13.29 kg/plot) also occurred with the same spacing. Plant height, number of leaves, and yield (kg/plot) were influenced by spacing significantly in cabbage.
