Impact of agility ladder training on physical and skill performance variables among soccer players

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of Agility Ladder training on the physical and skill performance of soccer players. A total of forty (N = 40) players were randomly selected from Margoschis Higher Secondary School, Nazareth and St. Marks Higher Secondary School, Mukkuperi. The participants, aged 14 to 18 years, were divided into two equal groups of 20 players each. Group I underwent a structured agility ladder training program for 12 weeks, while Group II served as the control group and did not participate in any specific training regimen. Physical fitness was evaluated based on explosive power, measured using the standing broad jump in meters. Skill performance was assessed through Warner’s Soccer Test, with kicking ability also recorded in meters. The results of the study demonstrated that agility ladder training led to significant improvements in both explosive power and kicking ability in soccer players.
