Comparison of post-operative early complication between modified Duhamel procedure and transanal endorectal pullthrough on children with hirschprung disease

Abstract

Background: Hirschsprung Disease is a common congenital disorder presenting with functional obstruction due to aganglionosis of the colon both submucosal plexus (Meissner) and Myentric plexus (Auerbach). The principles of the operation are to remove the aganglionic colon and connect the normally innervated bowel just above the anus, at a level which prevents further functional obstruction. Even though there are multiple procedures for treating Hirschsprung Disease with good outcome, complications after surgery still could happened. This study is comparing early complications between Modified Duhamel and Transanal Endorectal Pullthrough. Methods: Analytical observational with a retrospective cohort study design on 60 samples of Hirschsprung Disease patients treated with Modified Duhamel Procedure and TEPT procedure at General Hospital Dr. M.
