Comparison of functional and radiological outcome of Joshi’s external stabilization system versus volar locking compression plate in displaced distal end radius fracture

Abstract

Displaced distal radius fractures (DRFs) represent a significant portion of upper limb fractures, especially among the elderly. Two primary methods of fixation are commonly employed in their management: Joshi’s External Stabilization System (JESS) and Volar Locking Compression Plate (LCP). Both offer distinct advantages and disadvantages, including differing approaches to stability, ease of application, and post-operative rehabilitation. This study aims to compare the functional and radiological outcomes of JESS versus Volar LCP in the treatment of displaced distal radius fractures. Through an analysis of post-operative radiographic parameters and functional scoring systems, this study assesses both techniques in terms of healing, recovery, and complication rates.
