Acne vulgaris managed with homoeopathy: An evidence based case report

Abstract

Background: Acne vulgaris is a disorder of the pilosebacious unit with multi Factorial Pathogenesis and Variable morphology that has a great pyschological impact. A prevalent skin condition that is chronic in nature, acne vulgaris is a severe form of acne. It can seriously impair the skin's natural physiology and negatively affect one's quality of life. Case Summary: A case of 24 years old female reported with acne vulgaris came to our OPD for treatment. The patient was managed with homoeopathic medicine Natrum Muriaticum using individualization approach. After collecting the totality of symptoms and followed by repertorisation using radar software. Patient was treated over 5 months. There was a significant change in patients condition with homoeopathic medicine without any recurrence. The modified Naranjo criteria were used to evaluate the causal attribution of changes. Photographic documentation of the case progress was made at the start, during, and completion of treatment. Along with the presenting problems, the patient's quality of life had also significantly improved which was assessed using Cardiff Acne Diability Index.
