Apoptosis and ROS assessment of a 2-thioxoimidazolidin-4-one analogue using HepG2 cells

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2025 · Vol. 9(1) · pp. 846–852

Abstract

This study involved evaluation of 12 2-thioxoimidazolidin-4-one analogue 6a-6g and 7a-7e against HepG2 liver cells using the MTT assay, apoptosis, and reactive oxygen species ROS experiments. The compounds 6a-6g and 7a-7e showed various IC50 values (29.44, 27.68, 600.54, 597.85, 135.83, 105.28, 115.70, 68.90, 300, 36.64, 18.29, and 15.49) µM, respectively, and the compound 7e has the lower IC50 value 15.49 µM. The IC50 value of compound 7e showed significant effect with apoptosis and ROS. Therefore, it's shown promising results with merit investigations.
