An individualistic homoeopathic approach in treatment of hand foot mouth disease (HFMD) in adult: A case study

Abstract

Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a contagious enteroviral infection, primarily affecting children but rarely seen in adults, presented with vesicular rash on the hands, feet, and mouth, accompanied by painful oral ulcers, and is typically self-limiting, which is caused by enteroviruses such as enterovirus 71 and coxsackievirus A16. This case involves a 31-year-old female patient presenting with vesicular lesions on her hands, feet, and mouth, along with severe burning pain, fever, and body aches. The patient exhibited a strong desire for cold water and ice cream, and a thick white coating on her tongue. Mercurius solubilis 200 was prescribed based on her symptoms, leading to significant improvement, including reduced pain and mouth ulcers. This case highlights the effectiveness of individualized homeopathic treatment as a complementary approach for managing HFMD.
