Screening of cumin varieties/germplasm for their reaction against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to find out the source of resistance varieties/germplasm against Fusarium solani and Meloidogyne javanica in cumin using CRD design with three replications. Thirty cumin varieties were screened to study their reactions to root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne javanica). Plants were uprooted 60 days after germination and observations were made on the number of galls per plant. Among thirty varieties/germplasms, only two varieties/germplasms found resistant (i.e., RZ-345, AC-2), fourteen varieties/germplasms found moderately resistant and remaining fourteen varieties/ germplasms found susceptible against root-knot nematode, M. javanica. Among the screened varieties/germplasms, none of the varieties/germplasms showed highly resistant and highly susceptible reaction against root-knot nematode.
