A brief review on Aptamer-based disease diagnosis in the livestock sector

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2025 · Vol. 9(1S) · pp. 274–280

Abstract

Aptamers are typically 22–100 nucleobases long and comprise a variable region surrounded by constant regions. Amplification and identification of sequences are made possible by aptamers, which are single-stranded nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) with molecular recognition properties similar to antibodies (Gu, 2016; Kanwar, Roy and Kanwar, 2011; Simmons et al., 2012). Similar to monoclonal antibodies, aptamers have a variety of uses, including the discovery of biomarkers, treatments, diagnostics, and high throughput screening (Shigdar et al., 2011). The ability of the aptamers in detection of the circulating biomarkers can be efficiently done by using ELA (Enzyme Linked Aptamer) assay in targeted drug discovery (de Araujo et al., 2015).
