Mucogingival harmonization associated with periimplant defect in the aesthetic zone

Abstract

Dental implants are often the treatment of choice for replacing missing teeth. The success of implants depends on multiple factors that the clinician must consider to ensure a favorable prognosis. Objective: A clinical case involving the management of mucogingival deficiency with autologous grafts around implants in the aesthetic anterior region is presented. Materials and Methods: A two-phase surgical procedure was performed by placing a connective tissue graft and a free gingival graft. Results: Clinically significant gains in the width and thickness of the keratinized tissue were achieved. Conclusions: It is essential to maintain and/or generate an ideal peri-implant phenotype to create conditions that favor long-term stability.
