Study on physical and mechanical characteristics of Kufri Badshah potato tuber for planter design optimization
Abstract
This study evaluates the physical and mechanical properties of the Kufri Badshah variety of potato, essential for optimizing handling, processing, and storage operations. The comprehensive measurements were performed to assess parameters including length, width, thickness, geometric mean diameter, surface area, volume, sphericity, roundness, and shape index. Additionally, mechanical properties such as rolling angle, friction angle, coefficient of friction, and angle of repose were analysed. The statistical tools were employed to calculate the mean, standard deviation, and standard error of these properties. The results provide a detailed profile of Kufri Badshah potatoes, contributing valuable data for the development of efficient potato planter, thereby improving the overall productivity and sustainability of potato cultivation.
