Effects of using vermicompost as fish pond manure on Labeo rohita (Ham.) growth

Abstract

One organic fertilizer that is ready to use is vermicompost. There hasn't been much research done on the effectiveness of vermicompost compared to other organic fertilizers for fish production. Labeo rohita used in an experiment for this reason. The Study was carried out over a period of ninety days in a two-meter-by-one-meter FRP tank that was covered with a net to prevent fish from jumping. Each group contained three (triad) FRP tanks, one of which was stocked with twenty Labeo rohita fingerlings (avg. wt. 8.0 ± 0.5g), while the other two tanks were left empty. Eighty (80) Labeo rohita fingerlings (mean weight 8.0 ± 0.5g) were needed for this experiment, and all the sets were fertilized, with the exception of the control group, which contained only fish and was made using a completely randomized design (CRD). In terms of total weight increase, percent weight gain, total length gain, and specific growth rate, the vermicompost tank demonstrated superior growth performance, according to the fish growth metrics, which were 5.46 (gram), 101.06%, 5.57 (cm), and 0.78 (% wt gain/day), respectively. Additionally, it was discovered that the Labeo rohita had a great survival rate when treated with vermicompost manure, achieving 97.00% at a dose of 15 t/ha/year, and 75.00% when treated with cow dung manure.
