Comparative analysis of haematological parameters of dog breeds of Tamil Nadu

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(12S) · pp. 1194–1196

Abstract

The climatic conditions, age, breed type, sex, physiology of the animals. weight, nutrition, disease occurrence, clinical symptoms etc changes the blood parameters. The study was conducted to evaluate the blood haematology and biochemistry of Tamil Nadu breeds such as Kombai, Chippiparai, Rajapalayam and Kanni. Six dogs in each breed were selected which were healthy for collection of samples and analysed for its haematology and biochemical parameters. The results showed that the haematology and biochemical values were within the reference levels. The serum studies showed statistically significant values for creatine, alanine trans amine, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, magnesium, calcium and phosphorous for different dog breeds. The blood urea nitrogen, total bile and glucose level showed non-significant difference. The ALT (166.83±10.40 IU/L), ALP (1228.67±8.16 IU/L) and bilirubin (1.03±0.01 mg/dL) were found higher with Kanni breeds. The glucose content ranged from 70.50 to 84.17 mg/dL for different breeds.
