Abstract

Our entire ecology depends on the soil, which also serves as the basis for plant growth. To maximise the degree of output that can be sustained is the ultimate goal of soil conservation. The requirement for food increases along with the global population, generating strain on soil sustainability. The prime purpose of soil conservation should be prevention rather than cure. Increased chemical use is the biggest hazard to the soil, hence one strategy for conservation is to protect the soil from chemicals. Biopolymer-based materials are a new substitute for chemical inputs. A biopolymer created from living things is chitosan. Chitosan undoubtedly contributes to both increased crop plant productivity and better soil. This review paper will give insight on chitosan, its attributes, and its effects on crop yield and yield-attributing characteristics. This review examines the effects of chitosan first on key yield-attributing factors of certain significant crop plants, and then on yield productivity.
