Effect of dates of sowing and bio-fertilizers on growth parameters and flowering traits in okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]
Abstract
The present study on “Genetic diversity studies on yield and yield attributing traits of summer cultivated Kodo millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum L.)” was carried out at AICRP small millets, Regional Sugarcane and Jaggery Research Station (RSJRS), Kolhapur during Summer 2024. Thirty-eight kodo millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum L.) genotypes were evaluated to measure genetic diversity. All 38 genotypes were grouped into eight clusters in which four clusters are solitary. Cluster I contained maximum genotypes (14) followed by cluster II which contained 10 genotypes, cluster IV contained 6 genotypes and cluster III had 4 genotypes. The maximum inter cluster distance was observed between cluster VI and cluster VIII (D2= 9.63) indicated that these genetically heterogeneous clusters of genotypes may be utilized in a hybridization program for further improvement in kodo millet. The majority of the characters' desirable mean values were found in cluster VIII. Thus, it would be possible to combine the desirable traits of several accessions by recombination breeding between genotypes of distinct clusters. It was observed under study that the days to 50 percent flowering contributed highest (33.14%) for diversity indicating scope for development for these personalities.
