Maximizing productivity and profitability of pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp] using nano fertilizers and pulse magic spray

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(12) · pp. 747–752

Abstract

A field experiment entitled “Maximizing productivity and profitability of pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp] using nano fertilizers and pulse magic spray” was conducted during Kharif 2022 and 2023 at UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 8 treatments and replicated thrice. The study aimed to evaluate the combined effect of RDF, foliar application of nano DAP and pulse magic on pigeonpea yield parameters, yield and its benefit cost. The results revealed that the application of 100 percent Recommended dose of N & P as basal + Foliar spray of nano DAP @ 4 ml L-1 at branching stage + Pulse magic @ 1 percent at flower initiation & pod formation stage recorded significantly higher per plant number of pods (122.22), pod yield (94.0 g), grain yield (37.2 g), stalk yield (209.4 g), grain yield per hectare (1393 kg ha-1) and stalk yield per hectare (3462 kg ha-1) compared to other treatments. Same treatment recorded higher gross returns (Rs. 99241 ha-1), net returns (Rs. 60523 ha-1) and B:C ratio (2.56).
