New record of Zelus renardii (Kolenati, 1856) nymph feeding upon Kalotermes flavicollis in Northern Mallorca

Abstract

This paper presents novel information on the Nearctic assassin bug Zelus renardii in northern Mallorca, newly documenting its observed predation on Kalotermes flavicollis and noting its association with the plant Sparrmannia africana. This is the first record of Z. renardii preying upon a member of the order Isoptera, and contributes the first record of its feeding habits within in the Gymnesian Isles.
