Performance of different high yielding wheat varieties at different levels of nitrogen under Bundelkhand region

Abstract

Among the several factors for successful wheat crop production, crop variety is an important non-monetary input. Genetic potential of different cultivars vary under different climatic conditions. The development and recommendation of late sown high yielding adaptable varieties considered to be the first step to generate maximum production. Presented experimentation consisting of sixteen treatment combinations which comprised of four wheat varieties (PBW-590, DBW-71, Parvati and Raj-2535) and four N levels (0, 100%, 125% and 150% of RDN i.e. 120 kg/ha). Among different varieties Parvati performed significantly better over other varieties in terms of yield attributes like length of spike, number of grains spike-1, grain weight spike-1 and test weight (g). Also, the grain and straw yield (q ha-1) was significantly higher with Parvati followed by PBW-590, Raj-2535 and DBW-71. Yield attributes and yield was highest with 125% nitrogen level. From this conclude that for Bundelkhand region Parvati variety and 125% nitrogen level was suitable for late sowing of wheat.
