Efficacy of diamide group of insecticides and Insect growth regulators against Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera)
Abstract
Spodoptera litura is one of the destructive polyphagous pest and needs to be managed efficiently to overcome the yield losses. Hence, different chemicals were tested for their efficacy against the pest. Chlorantraniliprole, flubendiamide and cyantraniliprole belonging to diamide group and chlorfluazuron and novaluron belonging to Insect Growth Regulators were tested against S. litura. The bioefficacy studies during 2016-17, showed that the relative toxicity (RT) of flubendiamide chlorantraniliprole, cyantraniliprole, chorfluazuron and novaluron were 166, 60, 55.5, 52.1, and 27.5 times more than cypermethrin at LC50 values and novaluron was more toxic (27.3 times) followed by chlorfluazuron (20.8 times), chlorantraniliprole (12.6), flubendiamide (10.1 times) at LC90 values. During 2017-18 flubendiamide (142.6) was more toxic followed by cyantraniliprole (94.4), chlorfluazuron (76.4), chlorantraniliprole (64.8) and novaluron (63.6). But, at LC90 chlorantraniliprole (47) was the more toxic next best was chlorfluazuron (40) followed by flubendiamide (9.1), cyantraniliprole (3.4) and, novaluron (3.3).
