Organic approaches for combatting leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella D.) (Gelechiidae: Lepidoptera) in kharif groundnut

Abstract

In groundnut ecosystem, leaf minor cause enormous damage to crop. Hence, investigation on eco-friendly management of leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella) in kharif groundnut was carried out during 2020, 2021 and 2022 at S. D. Agriculture University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat, India. The groundnut crop was grown using established farming methods. The trials consisted of eight treatments viz., NSKE at 5 percent, custard apple leaf extract at 10 percent, nafatia leaf extract at 10 percent, datura leaf extract at 10 percent, Lantana leaf extract at 10 percent, azadirachtin 1500 ppm at 0.0006 percent, Tobacco decoction at 2 percent and untreated control. Among different application, the pooled data of three years shown that the application of azadirachtin 1500 ppm with a concentration of 0.0006 percent and a spray volume of 40 ml/10 L of water significantly minimized leaf damage (6.30%) as compared to untreated control (24.64%) plot. The application of azadirachtin 1500 ppm also maximized both haulm (3241 kg/ha) and pod (1781.85 kg/ha) yields as compared to other tested treatments.
