Effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and economics of fodder sorghum
Abstract
A field experiment entitled “Effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on Growth, Yield and Economics of Fodder sorghum” was conducted during late-Kharif 2023 at Livestock Farm Complex, Veterinary College, Shivamogga, Karnataka. The results of the experiment showed that among the treatments, POP showed significantly higher values of plant height (228.33 cm), leaf area (92.93 dm2 hill-1), number of tillers hill-1 (10.77), dry matter accumulation (26.05 g plant-1), green fodder yield (18.01t ha-1) and total biomass production (4.50 t ha-1) which was on par with T5 and same treatments showed significantly higher values at subsequent second and third cuts. Maximum gross return (211600 ₹ ha-1), net return (160641 ₹ ha-1) and B: C ratio (4.15) were also recorded in POP which was on par with T5. The lowest values observed in treatment where 100 % RDF alone is used.
