International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(12S) · pp. 865–871

Abstract

Globally, anaemia is the most widespread and persistent nutritional problem. Especially in developing countries like India, its most common in college going students. This study aimed to assess knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) towards anaemia among young adult girls. A cross-sectional institution-based study was conducted among 120 undergraduate young adult girl students. Results showed that out of the 120 students, 83 (69.17%) students had normal haemoglobin levels greater than 12 g/dl. 12 students (10%) had mild anaemia with haemoglobin levels between 11 and 11.9 g/dl. And 24 students had moderate anaemia. One student had severe anaemia. There was a significant association between haemoglobin levels of the subjects and KAP. Scores of KAP was higher in non-anaemic group when compared to anaemic group.
