Occurrence of lower urinary tract affections in goats: A retrospective study

Abstract

The present study entitled "studies on lower urinary tract disorders in goats was under taken to study the occurrence of lower urinary tract affections in goats. A total of 8,456 goats were examined, with 239 showing symptoms indicative of lower urinary tract issues. among these, 56 goats were diagnosed with lower urinary tract affections forming an overall occurrence rate of 23.43%. among various lower urinary tract affections, occurrence of urolithiasis, bacterial cystitis, bacterial uti and patent urachus was 50.00, 25.00, 23.21 and 1.79 percent respectively. While, ultrasonographic changes revealed a thickened bladder wall or a double-wall appearance, bladder distension, crystalluria and hyperechoic structures with distal acoustic shadows within the bladder/urethra, Collapsed bladder in anechoic fluid and hyperechoic patent urachus.
