Spontaneous rupture of the Achilles tendon after corticotherapy treated by free transfer of hamstring tendons: About a case at the Hospital Centre of the Order of Malta

Abstract

Traumatic rupture of the Achilles tendon is a relatively common injury with a marked increase in recent years. Spontaneous ruptures are rare and appear in the particular context. its treatment is surgical and the choice of the appropriate technique can prove difficult due to the nature of the edges. We present a case of rupture of the Achilles tendon after general and local corticosteroid therapy and managed by a free transfer of the ipsilateral hamstring tendons to the Hospital Center of the Order of Malta in Dakar.
