Abstract

Background: A study of functional outcome of Acromio-clavicular joint dislocation operated by mini open dog bone button technique. Materials and Methods: This study is a prospective study over 15 indoor patients aged from 18 to 55 years, who underwent Mini open dog bone button procedure from 2023 to 2024 for acromio-clavicular joint disruption of the right (n=10) and left (n=5) shoulders were included in this study. The patients were evaluated every 2 weeks during the first 3 months and every 6 months thereafter. The mean follow-up period was 12 months. Results: Outcome was excellent in 12 patients, good in 2 and fair in 1 patient. None had poor outcome. The mean range of motion of shoulder joint improved and symptoms were resolved. No patient had evidence of loosening, infection, recurrence of AC joint dislocation or gleno-humeral arthritis. Conclusion: Mini open dog bone button technique is a feasible, simple and cost-effective management for Acromio-clavicular joint dislocation. This procedure is relatively simple and can be performed by without the need of specialised arthroscopic instruments.
