Changes in nutrient content in cow urine under acidic condition at different duration

Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to changes in nutrient content in cow urine under acidic and normal condition at different duration. Urine samples collected from Dairy unit, College of Agriculture, IGKV, Raipur, (C.G.). Collected samples were analyzed with respect to pH, EC, Total- N, Total- P, Total-K, SO4 and micronutrients content of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu at 10th, 20th, 30th, 45th, 60th, 75th, 90th, 120th and 150th days after collection. During incubation period the pH level of cow urine goes on increasing from slightly acidic to neutral, neutral to alkaline and then strong alkaline as the incubation period increases. The pH was significantly influenced due to different treatments only up to 10 days after storage, thereafter it was non-significant. During incubation period pH was ranged from 7.3 to 8.74. At 10 days after storage pH value of normal stored cow urine was significantly higher over the urine stored under acidic condition. EC level of cow urine samples also goes on increasing as incubation period increases but the differences were non-significant. The EC was non-significant among the different treatments during incubation period. EC value was ranged from 27.42 to 36.18 mS. Total-N, Total-P, Total-K and micronutrients content of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu were decreased with incubation period. During incubation period the Total-N, Total-P, Total-K and micronutrients content of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu were ranged from 0.31 to 0.65%, 0.105 to 0.138%, 4.27 to 7.15 g/L, 0.217 to 0.329 mg/L, 0.066 to 0.079 mg/L, 0.430 to 0.560 mg/L, 0.039 to 0.059 mg/L respectively. Among the different treatments the Sulfate content was staged with incubation period. The results were shown non-significant difference among the different treatments during incubation period. The sulfate content was ranged from 574.73 to 672.17 mg/L. Throughout the entire storage period the pH and EC were increased of about 8.06-13.55% and 13.87-18.51% respectively. While the Total-N, Total-P, Total-K, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and SO4 content were decreased in order of 42.38-50.80%, 8.70-15.51%, 22.24-30.85%, 10.95-14.91%, 9.22-12.83%, 10.72-13.61%, 23.53-32.21% and 2.56-4.19% respectively with incubation period.
