International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(12) · pp. 176–179

Abstract

The present experiment, entitled “Evaluation of zinnia genotypes (Zinnia elegans L.) under North Karnataka region.” was conducted in the year 2023 at the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, Gokak, Belagavi, Karnataka, to identify the suitable genotypes for commercial cultivation under North Karnataka region, the experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with fifteen genotypes replicated twice. The highest plant height was recorded in the genotype Zinnia Orange King (35.60 cm), genotype Dreamland ivory recorded the highest stem girth (7.15 mm) and leaf area (2000.05 cm2), maximum number of leaves (40.50), highest number of primary branches per plant (18.10) were recorded in the genotype Zinnia Double Zahara Salmon. However the minimum duration to first flower emergence (14.15 days), minimum days for 50% flowering (32.15 days), flower duration (34.05 days) and the minimum time from flower initiation to flower opening (9.75 days) were recorded in the genotype Dreamland Ivory.
