Influence of farming practices on yield, quality, nutrient uptake and economics of soybean in inceptisol

Abstract

The field experiment assessing the influence of farming practices on yield, quality, nutrient uptake and economics of soybean in Inceptisol was conducted at Agronomy farm, College of Agriculture, Pune during May 2023 to November 2023. The experiment was laid in Randomized Block Design comprising four replications with five treatments viz., 1. Farmers practice, 2. MPKV recommended package of practices, 3. Organic farming, 4. Natural farming and 5. Climate resilient farming. The results revealed that, among all the treatments, the climate resilient farming recorded significantly higher grain (26.09 q ha-1) and straw yield (33.66 q ha-1). The quality parameters viz., protein (39.05 per cent) and oil (18.16 per cent) content were significantly higher in climate resilient farming. The treatment climate resilient farming significantly increased nitrogen uptake (157.87 kg ha-1), phosphorus uptake (39.45 kg ha-1), potassium uptake (73.17 kg ha-1) and sulphur uptake (9.01 kg ha-1) compared to other treatments. The micronutrient uptake viz., iron uptake (468.20 g ha-1), manganese uptake (243.82 g ha-1), zinc uptake (243.92 g ha-1) and copper uptake (89.24 g ha-1) were found significantly higher in climate resilient farming. The higher gross monetary returns (Rs. 130450 ha-1) and net monetary returns (Rs. 46300 ha-1) were received in climate resilient farming and which was closely followed in MPKV recommended practice (Rs.38390 ha-1) while the B:C ratio was highest in farmers practice (1.59).
