Evaluation of antioxidant & pharmacological activity of figus religiosa for the management of wound healing potential in diabetic swiss albino rats

Abstract

Medicinal plants have been widely recognized for their therapeutic potential in addressing a variety of health challenges, including chronic conditions such as diabetes and its associated complications. Among these, Ficus religiosa has been extensively utilized in traditional medicine for its antioxidant and healing properties. This study investigates the pharmacological activity of Ficus religiosa extract, with a particular focus on its wound-healing potential in diabetic Swiss albino rats. Key parameters evaluated include antioxidant activity, wound contraction rate, levels of oxidative stress biomarkers, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and histopathological changes in skin tissues. The results demonstrate that Ficus religiosa extract significantly accelerates wound healing by enhancing antioxidant defense, reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue regeneration. These findings highlight the potential of Ficus religiosa as a natural therapeutic agent for managing diabetic wounds, offering a safer and effective alternative to conventional treatments. Further research is recommended to elucidate its active phytoconstituents, detailed mechanisms of action, and clinical applicability in diabetic wound management.
