A comparative analysis of the sources of information accessed by beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of farmers farm school
Abstract
During the past few years, dairy farmers in Haryana are facing constraints such as lack of proper technical knowledge regarding dairy farming practices and improved technologies. Major cause for these constraints being improper use of various information sources available to them. Farmers many times faces the dilemma as which information sources has to be adopted for accessing knowledge on dairy farming technologies. Farmers farm school was a solution to this problem faced by the farmers, as it introduced the participant farmers with various information sources relevant to different situations. Sources of information used by the beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries showed significant differences. Overall extension contact, mass media exposure and participation in various extension activities were found to be high among farmers farm school beneficiaries as compared to the non-beneficiary dairy farmers.
