Retort of different brinjal varieties/genotypes against aphid: A comparative study of resistance and susceptibility mechanisms
Abstract
In the brinjal agro-ecosystem, aphid infestations lead to significant crop damage. Therefore, a comprehensive investigation on response of various brinjal varieties/genotypes to aphid was conducted during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 at S. D. Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat, India. Among the twenty different brinjal varieties/genotypes GAB 6, GRB 7, GJBH 4, and GRB 5 exhibited the least aphid population. In contrast, varieties/genotypes such as Punjab Sadabahar, Pant Rituraj, CO 2, and JBL-20-11 were found to harbor the highest aphid populations. The highest yield was recorded from the variety GAB 6 which was found statically at par with GJLB 4 and GRB 7.
