Standardization of a recipe for the preparation of rose petal jam (Gulkhand)

Abstract

A laboratory studies was carried out at Department of seed science and technology UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru during Rabi 2019, summer 2020 and kharif 2021 to know the effects of organic bio priming treatments and foliar spray on seed quality attributes in foxtail millet. Freshly harvested seeds were used for analysis of seed quality parameters with complete randomised design (CRD) with three replications. The result revealed that organic bio priming treatment and foliar spray and their interaction showed significant variation on seed quality attributes of foxtail millet in all seasons. Among the three seasons in summer season. The beejamrutha (3%) seed treatment (T2) was recorded highest 1000 seed weight (4.04 g), speed of germination (29.02), seed germination (92.33%), shoot length (9.95 cm), root length (10.70 cm), seedling dry weight (21.43 mg), seedling vigor index-I (1857), highest seedling vigor index-II (1913) and dehydrogenase activity (0.58 A480nm) compared to control with least electrical conductivity (314 dSm-1). The panchagavya (3%) foliar spray (F2) showed highest 1000 seed weight (3.97 g), speed of germination (28.75), seed germination (91.08%), shoot length (9.52 cm), root length (9.53 cm), seedling dry weight (19.65 mg), seedling vigor index-I (1667), seedling vigor index-II (1708) and dehydrogenase activity (0.54 A480nm) compared to control with least electrical conductivity (326 dSm-1).Where the interaction beejamrutha (3%) along with 3 per cent panchagavya (T2F2) also found best for the all seasons seed quality parameters.
