An eco-feminist study in the select works of Bina Agarwal

Abstract

This research paper undertakes Bina Agarwal's books entitled “A Field of One’s Own: Gender and Land Rights in South Asia (1994)” and “Gender and Green Governance: The Political Economy of Women’s Presence Within and Beyond Community Forestry (2010)” to understand the women rights suppressed under the patriarchal society. For many decades, Women have been treated as marginalized communities due to their body structure, which men think is their weakness. This paper focuses on the connection between nature and women and proves that women's participation in nature improves the community and society far better than in a male-dominated society. The patriarchal system limits the resources for women, such as “education”, “land”, “food”, etc. This paper takes women and nature as a unity and highlights the social fields in patriarchal thinking where women are oppressed. However, they can play a significant role in improving that area.
