Effect of Unani medicine on endometriotic cyst: A case report

Abstract

Endometriosis is an estrogen dependent chronic disease which is characterized by the presence of endometrial like tissue, glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity. Ovarian endometrioma is the common form of endometriosis. Early diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis seems to be very crucial in the present time for all the patients as it increases the quality of life which brings relief of the symptoms, decreases morbidity and negative impact of the disease on future fertility of the patients. In this paper, a case report is presented of female who came in OPD with complaint of pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, backache and heavy menstrual bleeding since 6 months. The Unani medicine Majoon Dabidulward and Arq Mako was advised to the patient for 3 months. The aim of the treatment was to relieve the symptoms of the patient. As the medicines possess the properties of anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antinociceptive and antioxidant. After taking the treatment the patients symptoms improved a lot and scan report showed normal study. So, we can say that this Unani Treatment was found safe and effective in the management of endometriosis.
