Girls, Games and Goals-developing grassroots football infrastructure
Abstract
The article discusses the importance of building a strong grassroots football infrastructure specifically for girls, focusing on training facilities, coaches, and access to resources. While acknowledging fallacies in the current ecosystem, whose inaccessibility is exacerbated for gender minorities, it suggests various ways of improvement. This involves a consideration of women and girls special needs by ensuring their presence as stakeholders in the decision-making and organisational process as well as sensitization, improved spatial access and conscious awareness and purging of institutional bias. This will go a long way in ensuring a larger multi-dimensional alleviation of the current socio-political-economic positionalities of women.
