A comprehensive literature review on handwritten character recognition of Kannada scripts

Abstract

One among the southern states of India is Karnataka. The official language of Karnataka is Kannada. In the image processing (IP) and also the pattern recognition’s field, the Kannada handwritten character recognition (KHCR) is an active and difficult research field. When contrasted to the other languages, KHCR is complex. For understanding the insight into the existing research’s development in the Character Recognition (CR) field, a comprehensive review of the KHCR is proffered by this paper that will be useful for the new researchers. The different IP methods utilized in Kannada handwritten CR and challenges from literature analysis are covered in this survey. It also addresses and reviews interpretations and probable suggestions.
