Design and implementation of efficient sprinkler irrigation systems

International Journal of Agriculture and Nutrition · 2024 · Vol. 6(2) · pp. 35–37

Abstract

In this review paper, we explore the necessity and development of sprinkler irrigation systems as an alternative to natural rainfall for farm and garden irrigation. This investigation arose from the need to supplement water supply in the absence of adequate natural precipitation. The study involves a comprehensive examination of various types of sprinkler irrigation systems, focusing on their design, construction, and installation processes. A key aspect of this study is the implementation of a rotating system to irrigate small-sized plots. This system provides a scientifically sound foundation for accurate water scheduling, system evaluation, and the reduction of water wastage and runoff. The design was tailored to accommodate a range of crops, ensuring its versatility and practical application in different agricultural scenarios. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of proper design and installation in the effectiveness of sprinkler irrigation systems. By optimizing these factors, we can enhance water use efficiency, conserve resources, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. This research not only addresses the immediate need for reliable irrigation solutions but also contributes to the broader goal of advancing agricultural technology and sustainability.
