A review study on the risk factors and the environmental factors linked to premature presbyopia

Abstract

Presbyopia is a common age-related visual impairment that can have a major negative impact on a patient's quality of life if it is neglected or managed improperly. It is characterized by a progressive loss of focus on items that are close by. Rather than a quantifiable loss of attention capacity, it is more about the effect it has on each person's ability to see well enough to function in their surroundings and sustain their lifestyle.The purpose of this study is to assess the risk factors that may contribute to a simpler onset. A hospital-based study at a medical college in October 2018 included patients who were 35 years of age or older and had trouble functioning close to the work area. Premature presbyopia was defined in the study as early presbyopia. Eight to nine hours of screen time were spent on a sample of people under the age of 38 in a study that included as the complete population. The most common risk factors are prolonged exposure to UV radiation, which can hasten the aging process of the lens in the eyes; extensive labor that requires close quarters, including work as a jeweler, tailor, or electrician; and greater use of digital devices, such as computers and smartphones.
